Finally, pictures of the new office! Half at least. :-) I completely gutted our unused guest room on a lonely week deciding we could use it as our office just over a month ago. Hubby and I took the opportunity to have the room painted and completely design the layout with Ikea furniture using FloorPlanner. I’m so thankful to have a husband who’s amazing at putting Ikea furniture together beautifully and fast! I love Ikea, just sometimes not all the assembling required. :-) Before this, I was using a cramped, built-in desk near our kitchen to do all my blogging and photo-editing from that I was outgrowing fast. Which meant it always looked cluttered and messy no matter how hard I worked to keep it clean.
The paint color is called Lime Mousse and I love it! It lights up in the morning sun, but is mellow and relaxing in the evening. I wanted the furniture to be light and bright to keep the room feeling open and uncluttered.
I still have some cable management work to do, I may add a cable shelf under the desk – who knows.
I love that I can hide equipment in the desk legs, I rarely use a printer and hate having it take real estate on the desk.
I do use our Fujitsu document scanner all the time for paperwork organizing, so that stays on the desk.
I have a collection of wood carved souvenirs from past vacations that I had to display and love the funky little lights we got from Ikea, fun and not too bright.
Finally a place to store my art pad easy access as I get back into photo editing. And I just love the open, uncluttered shelves. :-)
Again with my Fujitsu S1500 document scanner, this little guy has been a blessing for my de-cluttering goals. I use it to scan and archive bills and receipts instead of having them piled all over the place.
I love having a separate office now for peace and quiet while writing and working on projects, I never realized how distracting having my desk near the kitchen and TV room was before!
So what do you think of the office so far?
Anyway, after a day of laundry and catching up on house work, I went with a pretty typical dinner for me – a huge salad dressed with the tahini dressing from Ani’s Raw Food Asia, which is tangy and fabulous!
Then I chopped up some tempeh and onions.
And stir fried with a little soy sauce and toasted sesame oil.
And topped the salad with the stir fried mixture – yum!
Creating monster salads on Sunday nights are great for me because it means simple leftovers for work the next day and maybe dinner the next night.
How was your weekend?

Omg Christine…AMAZING JOB ON THE OFFICE!!!!!!!
It’s beautiful!!!
Congrats! I love everything from the built in cubes (have a similar concept in skylar’s room from ikea) to the ability to stow a rarely used printer w/out it taking up real estate…so true!
And the salad looks stellar.
Love all the pics of the office and thanks for uploading them all!

Love the office. I have a serious problem with cable/cord management. It drives me insane—there’s nothing I can’t stand more than a jumble of visible cords (that are inevitably dusty!). I found these velcro thingys that help to at least group them together in neat bundles.
Love the yummy looking salad :)
