Whew, what a day! I didn’t make it on my long run this morning opting to hit the home gym instead and that bummed me out. But the weather was cold, windy and rainy while tomorrow mornings forecast is supposed to be sunny and warmer, what would you do? 9 miles in a bitterly strong wind, rain and mud just didn’t seem appealing. So tomorrow. :-) I was a lazy women for lunch opting for leftover raw zucchini alfredo from last night.
And chocolate vanilla chia seed pudding I whipped up for dessert which is so much better than tapioca to me, the rich, slightly crunchy texture is very satisfying.
It was a hurried lunch to meet my sisters a Serenity Spa for an hour long massage where you can snack on chocolate covered strawberries and wash them down with wine or champagne while you’re waiting.
The decor was very peaceful and relaxing with gorgeous fountains and lighting.
While in the waiting room, I was seated in front of a huge mirror, so naturally I had to play with my camera between reading about the benefits of sex in a Redbook magazine and playing Words with Friends.
The massage was amazing, a perfect indulgence after a long week. I went with a hot rock massage and it’s been about 2 years since my last full body massage, but I’m a firm believer that everyone should invest in one every few months now. We usually have a massage therapist stop by work for cheap 15 minute massages, but this was many times better. Especially since I get a lot of tension in my neck and shoulder areas, it always amazes me how many knots I can feel the therapist work out of those areas. And this one focused a lot on my hands which felt amazing, I always forget I have so many tired muscles in my hands.
Since my mom was sweet enough to watch my nieces while we splurged, we took her out to dinner afterward. Like last weekend, I encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone recommending a Turkish restaurant nearby. I’ve been thinking about this place for awhile after reading great reviews, but have not been able to talk hubby into it yet. My sisters were game when I mentioned it, so we talked my mom into it. Glad we did because we were treated to a belly dancer for entertainment.
We got a kick out of this because we had a belly dancer teach a lesson at one of my sister’s baby showers a few years back and it was a lot of fun even though I have no skill at it!
To start, we got an appetizer sampler platter with dolmas, hummus, eggplant sauces and some yogurt based sauces I avoided.
My sister got the veggie pide which is like a veggie pizza and looked and smelled amazing and was enough for two people.
I got the mixed grilled veggies with rice, salad and a wonderful vinegar cabbage. Very filling and the jasmine rice was wonderful mixed with the veggies.
And my other sister got the veggies guvech which also looked wonderful.
What my mom ordered was far from vegan, so I’ll spare you the deets. :-) It was such a wonderful, but long day. It was a risk taking them to a Turkish place I’ve never been to, but worked out perfect with wonderful food, great atmosphere for our adult, girls night out and a waiter who was very passionate and knowledgeable about the food and quick with the recommendations.
How was your Saturday?

“hour long massage where you can snack on chocolate covered strawberries and wash them down with wine or champagne “—SIGN ME UP!!!
i am SUCH a massage junkie and lover of all body treatments, accupuncture, rolfing, etc but it’s been years since I have paid for anything more than a 15 min chair massage. I have the WORST back/shoulder knots. Was thinking of going…soon. For a real massage!

Heh, thanks, that was a wild time and a great idea for a baby shower if you ever need ideas for one. You should have seen my sister trying to stuff money in the dancers outfit last night for a tip, too bad my camera wasn’t ready! :-)
You should totally go for a real massage, we’ve agreed to get one every few months since that’s more doable in our budgets. I find the more physically active I am, the more knots I build up.

Um, yeah, definitely post-pone a 9 mile run for a dry, sunny day! LOL Wise choice!
I try to get a massage once a month. It’s worth it. Between the hours at my desk and working out, my body needs a tune up!
I love, love, love Turkish food! And so much is vegan friendly! Looks like a fun time and an amazing meal!

I’m glad I did because the weather is absolutely perfect out there now, no wind, sunny and warmer. :-)
I think we’re gonna get one done every few months now because it is important, I get lots of knots from sitting and stressing at my desk and all my physical activities.
Totally agreed on Turkish food, I will be dragging hubby back there soon! :-)
